On Saturday Daniel Fontaine, CEO for the BC Care Providers Association was asked to join guest host Sterling Fox on the Jill Bennett Show to discuss Bill 16 and the potential impacts on assisted living in the province.
Fox wanted to know how rising land values in places like Metro Vancouver could disrupt the current marketplace for assisted living in BC. In a wide ranging interview, Fontaine was asked numerous questions on everything from access to human resources to the differences between what baby boomers need compared to seniors who grew up in the depression.
The BCCPA released the Crump Task Force Report last week which includes a series of recommendations regarding how to strengthen assisted living services in BC. The report has since been forwarded to the Ministry of Health for consideration.
“It’s great to see so much interest in assisted living and the issues our members and seniors are facing,” says Fontaine. “The BCCPA is proud to represent assisted living operators in BC and we are committed to working with the new NDP government to ensure Bill 16 is a win-win for seniors and those who provide the services.”
