Announcing BCCPA’s ‘February is Families Month’ campaign

Radio ad campaign + events celebrate role of loved ones in continuing care

The important role of spouses, daughters, sons, and other beloved companions of seniors-in-care and those being supported at home will be recognized throughout February during BCCPA’s Families Month, a new initiative in support of member organizations.

Families Month is also acknowledges everyone who works to support seniors in care and extends gratitude to their family members. It is an appreciation for all the times during the pandemic when care providers could not be with their loved ones, so that B.C. seniors could get the care they need.

A new radio advertising campaign is launching on January 31st in several major markets* across British Columbia to acknowledge the important role families play in supporting seniors and the workforce which cares for them. The playlist below features three separate 30-second radio commercials.

Early on during the pandemic BCCPA began calling for the relaxation of restrictions so that residents in care could safely visit with the people who matter most to them. The Association continued this advocacy, including recent calls for clearer visitor guidelines and the right for each resident to have at least one designated visitor.

To mark Families Month, BCCPA will also host a special Care to Chat titled Family Ties: Meaningfully Engaging Family and Resident Councils on February 17th to discuss the ways in which these councils can participate as active and valued partners in ensuring the best possible quality of life for all residents. This coincides with work currently underway to establish a guide for operators, on this same topic, an initiative which is being supported by a blue-ribbon advisory committee.
