SSQIP’s fourth application period opening soon – limited funding remaining

BC Care Providers Association is pleased to announce the fourth round of funding for the Seniors Safety and Quality Improvement Program (SSQIP) will open September 23rd, 2019 for one week only.

Care homes that have not previously applied—or have not yet used up their funding from the previous periods—are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications that have not previously received funding or that have not reached their eligible cap will be given priority. If there is funding available thereafter, all other applications will be considered. Note, ineligible items for this period are long-term projects such as nurse call systems, security systems, or telephone systems due to the shorter time frame for making purchases and providing receipts within 90 days.

SSQIP, managed by BCCPA, allows any licensed publicly-funded long-term care home operator to apply for new equipment intended to enhance safety and quality of life for seniors. Those approved may receive up to $500 per publicly-funded resident. Funding is available for both BCCPA members and non-members.

The fourth call for applications is the last as BCCPA will allocate the remaining funds available from the $10 million grant from the Ministry of Health during this period.

BCCPA is advocating for additional funding to continue the program after 2020, and asking for new funding to include assisting living providers who are impacted by recently announced regulatory changes (aka “Bill 16”).
