Over the last six months, the BCCPA has been discussing with the Ministry of Health and the Health Authorities the concept of establishing the BC Continuing Care Collaborative. Loosely based on the Alberta Continuing Care Collaborative, it would provide a formal platform for dialogue and long-term planning between key stakeholders in the sector.
While there appears to be general consensus in the need to develop the platform, it may take some additional time to confirm who will sit at the table. At the moment, key representatives from the BCCPA, Denominational Health Association (DHA) and the Ministry have been identified. The representatives from the Health Authorities have yet to be confirmed.
A special resolution is being brought forward to the BCCPA Annual General Meeting on May 25th formally requesting our membership endorse the collaborative concept. We remain hopeful that the process to develop a formal terms of reference as well as identify the participants can happen this spring in order that an inaugural meeting can be held by the fall.
