Free Concerts in Care @ Robson Square

concerts in care bannerThe BC Care Providers Association is pleased to invite you to a special free concert taking place at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver on Tuesday, July 29th. The concert, titled Summer Showcase, is hosted in partnership with Concerts in Care, a division of the Health Arts Society. Concerts in Care is an organization which brings the rich experience of performance arts to people in residential care.

“On a weekly basis, BCCPA members offer their residents the opportunity to enjoy high quality musical performances,” says Daniel Fontaine,CEO. “Now the public can also enjoy what residents living in care homes have been experiencing for a while.”

Since 2009 Concerts in Care has delivered over 640 concerts to BCCPA member care homes across the province, with 369 of those programs funded by the Health Arts Society. David Lemon is Founder, Executive and Artistic Director with the Health Arts Society.

“We are excited to present, with our partners at BC Care Providers Association, a Summer concert which shows something of the rich program of music we bring to people in complex care, in assisted living and in retirement residences; people who cannot readily access public venues,” says Lemon. “After presenting over six thousand concerts across BC by the end of this year, our ninth, we are delighted with our partnership with the BC Care Providers Association to expand our work for elders in BC families across the Association membership.”

The concert will take place at approximately 11:45am in the Robson Square underground plaza and will feature a special announcement. Christopher Gaze, Founder and Artistic Director of Bard on the Beach and Board member Health Arts Society will emcee the event. The outdoor concert will feature performances from the Borealis String Quarter, Pianist Karen Lee-Morlang & Nick Apivor, and the Swingin’ Gypsy Jazz ensemble Van Django.

“Health Arts Society’s concerts for people in care are exquisite little miracles that lift spirits and evoke memories,” says Gaze. “Music is indeed the food of love, and the Society brings a wide range of wonderful performances to those who need them most – our families in retirement homes and seniors care.”
