2024 Slate of Candidates for the BCCPA Board

The following are part of the slate of candidates for the BC Care Providers Association Board of Directors. BCCPA will hold its Annual General Meeting on December 4th, 2024 where members will vote to approve the slate to serve a three-year term on the BCCPA Board.

2024 Slate of Candidates

Angela Grottoli, Optima

Angela Grottoli brings more than two decades experience working in the seniors housing and care sector.

For the past 15 years, she has held senior executive positions with Chartwell Retirement Residences, a Canadian leader in the retirement and long-term care residence sector in Canada.

She has also held several board member positions with major seniors industry associations across Canada.

Angela’s extensive background in the areas of operations and sales, asset management and partner relations, real estate operations, growth and integration, as well as acquisition and development make her the ideal person for the pivotal role of navigating Optima Living forward in its core pursuits: Excellence, People, Governance, and Growth.

Ernie Hee, Element

Ernie was a partner in a national law firm’s Vancouver office until December 31, 2018. He advised on all aspects of commercial real estate and corporate/commercial law and has a varied client

base which includes well known REITS, developers, pension funds, limited partnerships and private individuals.

Ernie also acted for European real estate investors and has acted for prominent U.S. investors and real estate funds on various acquisitions in B.C.

Ernie has practiced law for over 40 years in Alberta and B.C. and has closed transactions totaling in excess of a billion dollars in his career. His skill as a negotiator and closer is well known in the real estate community.

Ann Marie Leijen, Maplewood House

Ann Marie has been the CEO of Maplewood Care Society since 2020. She has 30 years of leadership and operational experience delivering community-based health care programs for older people in long-term care.

Ann Marie has demonstrated a profound understanding of the needs of older adults and a commitment to providing them with the highest quality of care.

Ann Marie’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UFV and an MBA from the University of British Columbia. She has served on various boards and currently serves on the BCCPA Board of Directors. Ann Marie’s leadership is characterized by a rare combination of experience, compassion, and dedication, maker her a truly invaluable asset to the field of long-term care.

Celeste Mullin, Golden Life Management

As an owner and second-generation family member of Golden Life Management, Celeste brings over 25 years of experience in the healthcare sector, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for seniors through compassionate, person-centered care. Under her leadership, Golden Life has evolved into a prominent provider of senior living solutions across B.C. and Alberta, delivering a range of services from independent and assisted living to long-term care and hospice services.

Throughout her career, Celeste has actively collaborated with stakeholders, including multiple health authorities, crown corporations and non-profits, to promote policies and initiatives that align with BCCPA’s mission to improve the quality of care across the province. She is committed to advocating for the well-being of our aging population by fostering strong partnerships and supporting initiatives that drive positive change.

Andrea Prashad, Amica

Andrea has a 15-year track record of guiding organizations in healthcare, real estate and retail through periods of high-growth and disruption to their industry/strategy that require fresh ideas.

She has experience in managing multiple functions and is currently the Senior Vice President, Resident Experience and Risk Management at Amica Senior Lifestyles.

Andrea holds a law degree (LL.B) and a Master’s in Public Policy, Administration and Law (MPPAL). She completed the Governance Essentials Program, Institute of Corporate Directors at the University of Toronto as well as the Strategic Management of Regulatory & Enforcement Agencies Program from Harvard University.

Sharon Ranalli, Chartwell

With Chartwell since 2009, Sharon’s national role as Vice President, Marketing and Communication, includes oversight for corporate brand marketing and lead acquisition strategies, corporate communication and reputation management and working closely with Chartwell’s senior operations team.

Sharon is currently serving as a member of the BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) Board of Directors, the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of The Chartwell Foundation and the Board of Directors of ALS Canada.

Previously, Sharon worked for over 15 years as a political advisor at the federal, provincial and municipal levels of government in the areas of public policy, strategic communications and media relations.  A graduate of Carleton University with a combined degree in Sociology and Law, she also holds a Certificate in Strategic Communications Management from Ithaca College and Executive Certificates in Marketing and Strategic Leadership from Queen’s University and has completed Finance for Senior Executives from Harvard University Business School. Sharon has also completed her University of Toronto-Rotman School of Management Not-for-Profit ICD Governance Essentials Certificate.
