What are your thoughts on WorkSafeBC’s Health Care and Social Services High Risk Strategy?
WorkSafeBC is in the final year of its three-year campaign — Health Care and Social Services High-Risk Strategy — focusing on point-of-care interactions in classification units with above-average time-loss claims.
2020 WorkSafeBC injury data indicate that long-term care and home and community care have higher-than-average time-loss claims related to acts of violence and musculoskeletal injuries than other occupations in B.C.
The campaign aims to reduce injury rates and prevent incidents through inspections which assess interactions between workers and residents or clients, with four areas of focus:
- Violence prevention
- Musculoskeletal injuries prevention (patient/client lifting and patient/client mobility limitations)
- Employer Internal Responsibility System
- Communicable disease prevention
The inspections will integrate healthcare and social services High-Risk Strategies with the employer’s basic requirements outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety regulation.
They are committed to supporting members with sector-specific engagement in these focus areas along with comprehensive resources, education, and training to ensure your success.
Why this matters to you
