“Special Membership” offer to conclude October 1st with renewal discount
In the early days of the pandemic health crisis it became clear to us that the seniors care and retirement living sector would need to work collaboratively to defend against the novel coronavirus. Part of this response was for BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) and EngAge BC to offer a limited-time, free membership to all non-member organizations providing long-term care, assisted living, home health and independent living. This “special membership” would include access to sections of the associations’ members-only online portal, exclusive member updates and support services.
In keeping with our goal to be B.C.’s leading voice for seniors’ care and retirement living providers, the Association led the charge in sector advocacy, media relations and member support through the challenging months since the global pandemic was declared. From our first memo indicating that we had asked the Ministry of Health to assist the sector in preparing for the possible effects of COVID-19 to present day concerns, BCCPA and EngAge BC have successfully engaged our members, provided necessary guidance and brought your voices forward in the dialogue with government and the health authorities.
To see a robust outline of the key actions and milestones which have occurred so far, please refer to our public timeline, which can be found here.
As the association begins to look forward, we would like to thank our special members for joining us and let them know that their special memberships will continue until October 1st. We would also like to invite them to apply for a full membership, as to remain involved with the Association beyond that date.
We understand that this is a difficult time for operators, and do not want cost to be a barrier to membership. As such, transitioning members will not be charged for the month of October.
BCCPA and EngAge BC support over 390 organizations that provide long-term care, assisted living, home health, independent living, and commercial products and services.
Our members support our work in the following areas:
- Fostering Standards and Quality of Care: We advocate for quality of life for seniors, and uphold a member Code of Conduct;
- Sustainability of Services: Ensuring adequate funding to enhance quality care;
- Policy Development: We publish influential white papers and policy documents;
- Relationship Building: We collaborate with partners in government and health authorities;
- Networking and Knowledge Sharing: We strengthen the sector through our dynamic events, an annual conference, and member-only workshops.
As a member you can expect to recieve:
- Timely updates on COVID-19 and other emerging issues important to our members through regular EngAge BC and BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) communications, access to member support, and resources.
- Special discounts for our annual conference, and other scheduled events that occur during the year, including access to exclusive workshops.
- Province-wide consultation & collaboration on emerging issues and public policy.
- Public Advocacy performed on your behalf. Our members understand that there is strength in numbers, and we make gains as a collective voice that individually would be very difficult to achieve. When members are having issues with local health authorities or the B.C. government, BCCPA and its Board of Directors are there to provide support. We meet regularly with Ministry of Health officials, MLAs and Members of Parliament from all parties, in addition to health authority representatives. We also submit a budget submission to the Minister of Finance on behalf of our members each year.
- Unparalleled media and communications support and a “voice at the table” as we discuss member issues with senior leaders in the provincial and federal governments.
- A listing on Route 65 – a free, online destination operated by EngAge BC, that helps match seniors with B.C.’s leading operators of independent living, assisted living, long-term care and home health care services. A premium listing is included as a benefit of your membership and featured listings are available at a fair price.
We look forward to continuing to work on behalf of our members, and hope those of you who have signed on for a special membership will continue on as part of the BCCPA and EngAge BC community.
