BCCPA’s 46th annual conference is only 11 days away! We are looking forward to welcoming delegates to our World Cafe: The Culture Club – Enhancing Diversity and Inclusion. This world café-style event will see delegates discuss issues concerning cultural appropriateness in B.C.’s continuing care and seniors living sector.
Facilitators include:
- Katherine Chubbs, President & CEO, Good Samaritan Canada
- Darin Froese, CEO, New Vista Society
- Sinder Kaur, Executive Director of Health Services for Seniors, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. BC
- Darren Usher, Board Chair, Dignity Seniors Society
More about the session:
While Canada’s population is aging, the “silver tsunami” is not the only demographic trend shaping Canada’s future. Older adults living in B.C. are increasingly culturally diverse, representing all facets of ethnicity, language, sexual orientation, religion, and country of origin. This diverse population will require a wide range of seniors living and care options, yet not all organizations report that they are adequately prepared to meet the needs of our cultural mosaic. Continuing care and seniors living staff are also increasingly diverse and report a need for greater inclusion to promote worker retention.
Please note that this is an optional ticketed pre-conference event and includes lunch. If you have already registered for the conference and would like to include this to your agenda please email andrea@bccare.ca.
If you haven’t registered for the conference yet don’t delay as registration closes May 19th.
