Our partners at SafeCare BC have provided an Occupational Health and Safety Refresher presentation to each of our BC Care Provider of the Year winners’ organizations. SafeCare BC strives to empower those working in the continuing care sector to create safer, healthier workplaces by fostering a culture of safety through evidence-based education, leadership, and collaboration.
The Occupational Health and Safety Refresher training responds to WorkSafeBC’s High-Risk Strategy for Healthcare and Social Services, and Occupational Health and Safety Committee can integrate it into monthly meetings. It provides a review of the following:
- Basic responsibilities of a health and safety committee
- The core elements of a safety program
- What SafeCare BC can offer and how they can help
SafeCare BC can deliver the presentation remotely. Safety committees can easily integrate the refresher into monthly meetings or stand-alone opportunities. It prepares the committee for its annual safety program review and includes a chance to ask SafeCare BC health and safety consultants site-specific questions. With WorkSafeBC resuming on-site inspections, this opportunity allows an organization to review the primary OHS responsibilities required in the regulation for their committees. You can find more information on the SafeCare BC website.
