With the number of seniors in Canada on the rise, there’s a pressing need for more efficient and effective care and support for older adults. Fortunately, new and emerging technologies have the potential to fill the gaps in our strained healthcare system.
For instance, telehealth and remote monitoring technologies allow seniors to receive care and support from their homes, reducing the need for hospital admissions and delaying the need for complex care services. Additionally, integrating technologies into care communities can improve clinical outcomes by preventing falls and medication errors, as well as reducing social isolation, loneliness, and other mental health issues.
Furthermore, using these technologies could also improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the care workforce. By strategically adopting technologies, healthcare professionals and care workers can reduce administrative responsibilities, thus providing more time to spend with residents and clients and extending their scope of care.
