We are pleased to announce that this week marks the start of EngAge BC’s third cohort of the Home and Independent Living (HaIL) Training Program. Scheduled to run for 6 weeks, this cohort consists of 32 students from the Lower Mainland and they will be guided through the program curriculum by Farhad Jafari, Learning and Employment Skills Facilitator, and other guest instructors.
The curriculum will be delivered online, where students will attend four hours of online training for five days per week. Through the program, students will learn various life and employment skills, which includes knowledge of dementia and Enhanced Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S).
Upon completion of the program’s courses and training, students will have acquired a variety of certifications for their new learned skills, such as First Aid and CPR, Food Safe, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, and Serving It Right. Students will also gain paid work experience in home health and independent living which will be helpful when applying for future job positions, such as Home Health Companion and Seniors Hospitality Workers.
Our instructors are excited to spend the following weeks with our students to provide them with mentorship and training for their future careers, we look forward to guiding them towards their next career chapters in home health and independent living.
