Today, BC Care Providers Association announced the winners of the 7th Annual BC Care Awards which recognizes employees who provide superlative and compassionate care for seniors and in addition to having the respect and support of their peers.
In this profile, we feature 2020 Care Provider of the Year (Home Health) award winner Kiran Minhas.
Here’s what Kiran’s colleague and nominator had to say about her:
Kiran goes above and beyond for her clients. She picked up medications and groceries during COVID-19 for her homebound clients while making sure to follow safety protocols. For her employees, she dropped off PPE supplies to their homes, drove them to shifts during times of limited transit, and ensured phone call check-ins were completed so that each care aide felt comfortable with their assignments. She works with our scheduling team to think outside the box when we have competing shift times and will work with clients directly if needed. She comes to work each day with a positive attitude and compassion for the clients and caregivers that she serves.
Families, team members and other staff that work directly with Kiran have recognized the diligence she has in her work and the superior level of care that she provides. Clients appreciate her thoughtfulness when reporting updates regarding their loved ones. Kiran handles tough conversations with clients or staff from a place of kindness and respect which makes her such a gem to deal with.
Kiran is one of those rare individuals who balances her nursing experience with her true compassion towards people. Kiran understands the human dynamics involved in making the decision to have home care. She sees home care as a way to have independence and safety at home. She designs care plans with clients’ respect and dignity in mind. This is what makes her special.
