Member Update March 7th: In response to COVID-19 found in North Vancouver care home

A weekend update to our BCCPA and EngAge BC members in response to today’s news about the discovery of the COVID-19 virus in a North Vancouver care home.

This morning Dr. Bonnie Henry from the BC Centre of Disease Control made a public statement which is reported here (note response from BCCPA).

Also this morning, our CEO Daniel Fontaine spoke to the Deputy Minister of Health Stephen Brown, and the Ministry has indicated that beginning this week communications to care home operators across the sector will be occurring on a stepped up schedule.

“Our organization is monitoring these events closely, and will endeavour to keep our members up to date on any information that concerns the coronavirus and long-term care and assisted living residences across the province,” says Fontaine. “I’d like to send our best wishes out to the residents and staff at Lynn Valley Care Home, and we are hopeful that this spread is contained and those affected fully recover.”
