Friday’s annual general meeting for BC Care Providers Association provided a lot of exciting news from our organization, including the results of its first board election in over 6 years. Thirteen highly qualified candidates put their names forward for the BCCPA board, with only 8 openings available on the board.
A number of incumbents are returning to the board — they are Aly Devji (who now assumes the role of BCCPA board president), Hilary Manning (the new vice-president), Elissa Gamble and Hendrik Van Ryk. In addition, David Hurford and Melanie Reinhardt were elected to the board after serving as interim (non-voting) board appointments. Karen Baillie is on the BCCPA executive as past president, and Riz Gehlen continues as treasurer.
New to the board are Jennie Deneka, the Chief Operating Officer at Pacific Reach Seniors Housing Management, and Lynda Foley, the Chief Nursing Officer and Vice-President for Quality Assurance at Park Place Seniors Living.

The BCCPA board thanks outgoing directors Ann Marie Leijan, Joe McQuaid, Celeste Mullin and Elaine Price for their valued contributions, and for all those who put their names forward for board service. It is because of the excellent guidance of our board of directors that BCCPA succeeds in its work supporting the seniors care sector.
The next board meeting takes place on December 6th, where new committee appointments will be finalized. Motions approved at the AGM will be featured in forthcoming web posts.
