Ready, Set, Go! SSQIP Application Goes Live Next Week

Snezana Ristovski

Last month, BC Care Providers Association published the basic guidelines and eligibility criteria for the Seniors Safety and Quality Improvement Program (SSQIP).

We are now pleased to announce the first application phase will be open from Monday, January 15th to February 28th, 2018. The application will be available on the SSQIP page. Additional opportunities to apply for funding in 2018 will be available and announced in the coming months.

“We’re looking forward to the next major step in the process—beginning the much-anticipated application process,” says BCCPA Director of Programs, Snezana Ristovski.

Basic Program Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria

“All eligible residential care providers can apply for up to $500 per publicly funded senior in their residence. This funding is secured through to September 30th, 2019. There will be several opportunities to apply to SSQIP over that entire period. We’re encouraging applicants not to rush through this process as we have designed the program to ensure funding is available between now and the fall of 2019,” Ristovski adds.

Based on the needs assessment conducted last year, there are far more demands for the program than the $10M will be able to accommodate. Therefore, in response to numerous inquiries, we can confirm the BCCPA will be approaching the Ministry of Health in 2018 to determine if additional funds can be made available to extend the reach and scope of SSQIP. For example, we are looking to expand the program to include both home care and assisted living operators and extending additional funding to residential care providers.
