SafeCare BC Releases Home Support Sector Survey Results

This week our partner organization SafeCare BC published the results of a Needs Assessment safety survey that was distributed to home care employers and front line workers across BC in August and September. The survey received an impressive 800 responses.

Developed in consultation with a Project Working Group of home support employers, representatives of WorkSafeBC and union leaders, the survey invited workers and employers to provide feedback on the importance of various safety topics, technology, barriers to safety training and how the sector prefers to be consulted and receive safety information from SafeCare BC.

In addition to capturing the full survey results, SafeCare BC’s Needs Assessment of the home support sector will include an environmental scan of existing training opportunities and resources available that can be modified for the home support sector.

Based on feedback received over the past three months, the Needs Assessment will also provide detailed recommendations for SafeCare BC to successfully integrate home support into its mandate in 2017. Watch for a copy by the end of the year.
