In August, the BCCPA played host to the annual meeting of the Canadian Alliance for Long-Term Care. The meeting gathers representatives from most of the provincial associations across Canada.
The two-day meeting provided CALTC with the opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues impacting the sector and how best to approach them. In addition, members discussed the future governance structure of the organization.
It was determined that CALTC would develop a new executive structure as well as incorporate as a federal non-for-profit society. CALTC also voted to approve new funding to hire a support staff person for the next year to assist with a number of activities identified by the group as top priorities.
Candace Chartier, CEO for the Ontario Long-Term Care Association was appointed as Chair. Both Tammy Leach, ED for Alberta Long-Term Care Association and I were appointed as co-chairs for a one-year term. The next in-person meeting of the Alliance will take place in Charlottetown, PEI next August.
