On December 11, 2013, ministers, researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and charities in London will come together for the first G8 Dementia Summit. With the goal to develop a new international approach to dementia research and policy, the summit aims to agree what can be done to:
- stimulate greater investment and innovation in dementia research
- improve the prevention and treatment of dementia
- improve quality of life for people with dementia
The prevalence of dementia is forecast to double every 20 years. The G8 summit aims to coordinate the research among countries, researchers, and companies to help people with dementia get the best care world-wide.
The summit will draw on the expertise and experience of the OECD, World Health Organisation, industry, national research organisations, key opinion leaders, researchers and physicians.
On December 11th, coverage of the summit will be available through live streaming. For more information, or to receive email reminders about the summit, visit the Dementia Challenge website.
