Care to Chat

With the provincial election on October 19th fast approaching, it is important to understand how political parties plan to address the needs of our aging population. By 2036, over 1 in 5 British Columbians will be over 65, signaling a major demographic shift and a pressing need for action.

Our Care to Chat: Election Edition will serve as a crucial platform for candidates from various political parties to tackle urgent questions about seniors’ care, living, and wellness. This event will allow candidates to outline their strategies and commitments for supporting our aging population if their party forms the next government. It also ensures that our sector’s concerns are prominently heard, promoting an “all hands on deck” approach that requires collaboration between government and private sector to effectively meet future demands.

Moderated by TV and radio broadcaster Jody Vance, representatives from each of the major official provincial parties will participate in the debate:

  • Elenore Sturko, BC Conservative candidate for Surrey-Cloverdale
  • Pat McCutcheon, Green Party of BC candidate for Surrey-Cloverdale
  • Hon. Adrian Dix, current B.C. Minister of Health and BC NDP candidate for Vancouver-Renfrew (incumbent)
  • Karin Kirkpatrick, independent candidate for West Vancouver-Capilano (incumbent, formerly with BC United)
