The Alzheimer Society of B.C. is offering support to health-care providers working in communities affected by wildfires. If you work with people living with dementia, their families and friends, you can call the First Link® Dementia Helpline for support in how to handle responding in an emergency situation. Their support can help people in troubleshooting practical issues like handling communication and disorientation, as well as connecting people with additional external resources for cases where they may be experiencing elevated levels of distress. Call 1-800-936-6033 (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
