#BCCPA2018 Session: Exploring True Partnership: Expanding the Continuum of Care for People affected by Dementia

The Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s ultimate vision is of a world without dementia. However, until this day comes the Society is committed to building a world where people living with dementia, their caregivers and their families are included, acknowledged and supported – a truly dementia-friendly society.

B.C.’s continuing care sector has a key role to play.

Participants will hear about opportunities to build lasting partnerships with the Society as well as what resources are available to equip their organization’s staff with dementia knowledge and problem-solving skills. They will also learn about many of the innovative programs which are offered through First Link® dementia support, including:

  • The First Link® Dementia Helpline (a valuable resource for health-care providers).
  • Web resources that can support health care providers in growing their understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
  • Tele-support groups and webinars that allow people to connect from home.
  • Culturally specific support offered through our Chinese Resource Centres and the South Asian Dementia Support pilot project

Building a dementia-friendly society will take a collaborative approach, including not only the Society, but leaders in continuing care, health-care providers and individuals and families affected by the dementia. The workshop will explore ways to coordinate this approach to care.

Exploring True Partnership: Expanding the Continuum of Care for People affected by Dementia | May 29 | 9 a.m. – 9.50 a.m.
