BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) was proud to bring together those across the sector to celebrate exceptional individuals in seniors’ care at the 12th Annual BC Care Awards at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, B.C. on February 25, 2026. We were incredibly honoured to once again welcome Minister of Health Hon. Josie Osborne who presented awards to this year’s recipients.
Over 200 guests mingled over food and drink in the historic Palm Court, with live music from Health Arts Society’s Concerts in Care. Guests then gathered in the Crystal Ballroom for the main reception where BCCPA President Marc Kinna welcomed guests and commenced the program with opening remarks.
We were also joined by Minister Adrian Dix, Minister Jennifer Whiteside, Parliamentary Secretary for Seniors’ Services and Long-Term Care Susie Chant, many MLAs, and BC Seniors Advocate Dan Levitt. With the support of award sponsors, Minister Osborne presented the awards to the 2025 recipients, including winners of our two new categories:
BC Care Provider of the Year
- Home Health – Nahin Ahmed (Health Care Aide and Care Manager at Global Senior Care)
- Assisted Living – Linda Frew (Community Manager at Castle Wood Village, Golden Life Management)
- Long-Term Care – Gloria Larson (Health Care Aide at Misson Creek Landing, Kaigo Senior Living)
Family Champion – Judy Calhoun (AgeCare Royal City)
Workplace of the Year – Rosemary Heights Seniors Village, Retirement Concepts
Energy Efficiency Leadership Award – Sienna Senior Living
Ed Helfrich Long-Service Excellence Award – Al and Jenny Jina (CEO and Director at Park Place Seniors Living)
Don Ho Long-Service Excellence Award – Don Ho (Honorary Chairman at Element Lifestyle Retirement Inc.)
The evening concluded with closing remarks from BCCPA CEO Mary Polak. She congratulated the award winners and thanked Minister Osborne, our sponsors, special guests, board members, and all those dedicated to delivering the best quality care for seniors in B.C.
The next day the winners attended Question Period at the BC Legislature where Seniors Care Providers Day was proclaimed and the winners were recognized.
