BC Care Providers Association is proud to present the 2025 BC Care Provider of the Year | Assisted Living Award to Linda Frew, Community Manager at Castle Wood Village (Golden Life Management).
Since joining Golden Life in 2003, Linda has been a cornerstone of compassionate care.
“Linda treats every resident and every family as if they were her own, creating a sense of belonging that transforms lives,” says Julie Garrick, Project Manager and Regional Manager in Assisted Living Services at Castle Wood Village.
Linda’s gift lies in noticing the details that matter most. She knows who should sit together at dinner so friendships can blossom, and she is present in life’s most significant moments. One resident even shared that “[they] have woken up in the hospital to find her standing at the foot of [their] bed, having already called [their] family to make sure [they were] cared for.”
Her leadership has shaped a vibrant, inclusive community. Linda introduced initiatives like the Golden Castle Awards, celebrating residents and staff for who they are. She also enhanced quality of life through an innovative Adult Day program, blending clinical support for high-needs individuals with social engagement for Village residents, reducing stigma and strengthening community bonds.
Linda’s compassion shines brightest in the most vulnerable moments. Families have invited her to sit with them during Medical Assistance in Dying, trusting her to provide comfort and dignity at life’s final moments. Her presence reassures families that their loved one mattered deeply and that they were never alone.
Through every action, whether celebrating milestones, supporting families in grief, or empowering residents to shape their own community, Linda exemplifies excellence in assisted living care.
