BC Care Providers Association is proud to announce Gloria Larson, Health Care Aide at Misson Creek Landing (Kaigo Senior Living), as the recipient of the 2025 BC Care Provider of the Year | Long-Term Care Award.
Since starting her career in 1982, Gloria has provided care to over 6,000 residents, each one receiving her trademark blend of warmth and respect, shaping the lives of thousands of residents and inspiring generations of caregivers. Beginning her career at just 16, Gloria’s passion for person-centered care has influenced not only her colleagues but also her family, namely three sisters, two nieces, and her daughter who have all followed in her footsteps.
“She has nurtured a remarkable multigenerational legacy of care,” says Noreen Guenther, Quality Assurance Coordinator at Mission Creek Landing.
Gloria’s excellence shines in the quiet, meaningful moments that define true caregiving. She goes beyond routine tasks, personally purchasing clothing and comfort items for residents without family support and transforming rooms into warm, inviting spaces that feel like home. Her advocacy for “thinking outside the box” has led to changes that improve residents’ quality of life, from adapting rules to meet individual needs to creating environments that normalize life in care.
“She consistently goes above and beyond—personalizing care, bringing comfort and dignity to every resident, and turning everyday moments into meaningful connections. […] Her joy, creativity, and community spirit have shaped the culture of our care home. She dresses up for holidays, organizes small celebrations, and brings laughter to residents and coworkers alike. Her efforts turn ordinary days into memorable ones, creating moments residents truly look forward to. These traditions have become part of our home’s identity, fostering belonging and connection.”

Her unwavering commitment is rooted in empathy, generosity, and respect. Gloria’s career is a testament to doing what you love, bringing dignity, comfort, and joy to those who need it most. Through her leadership and compassion, she has set the standard for excellence in long-term care and continues to be a source of stability and inspiration for everyone around her.
“Gloria has been the compassionate heart of our care home.”
