March 3, 2025 (Victoria B.C.) – In recognition of the thousands of health care workers who deliver exceptional care for seniors across the province every day, the Province of British Columbia has once again declared March 5, 2025, as Seniors Care Providers Day.
“Every day, health care workers contribute to the quality of life of seniors,” says BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) CEO, Terry Lake. “This proclamation is a special opportunity to recognize and honour the invaluable and inspiring contributions of those who serve seniors across the province, whether that be those who are on the front-line with residents long-term care or assisted living, or those providing essential services for seniors at home.”
This declaration will follow the 11th Annual BC Care Awards taking place in Victoria, B.C. on March 4th. B.C. Minister of Health Hon. Josie Osborne will be presenting awards to recipients in the Care Provider of the Year (Long-Term Care, Assisted Living and Home Health), the Family Champion, the Workplace of the Year, and the Ed Helfrich Long-Service Excellence award categories in front of an audience of elected officials, as well as leaders and workers in the sector.
“This brings British Columbians together to collectively celebrate the inspiring work of those who provide care for our seniors,” adds Lake.
A copy of the Proclamation signed by B.C. Lieutenant Governor Hon. Wendy Cocchia and Attorney General and Deputy Minister Hon. Niki Sharma is available to view here.
