BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) was proud to have celebrated exceptional individuals in seniors’ care at the 11th Annual BC Care Awards at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, B.C. on March 4th. We were incredibly honoured to welcome Premier David Eby for the evening, along with B.C. Minister of Health Hon. Josie Osborne who presented awards to this year’s inspiring recipients.
After attendees enjoyed exquisite food, drinks, as well as live music from Concerts in Care, attendees gathered for the ceremony in the Crystal Ballroom. BCCPA President Marc Kinna commenced the program by providing welcoming remarks, setting the stage for an inspiring night. Premier Eby took the stage and spoke on the importance of caregivers in our communities and ensuring that we are responding to the needs of B.C. seniors.
Along with other MLAs and BC Seniors Advocate Dan Levitt in attendance, we were also honoured to have Parliamentary Secretary for Seniors’ Services and Long-Term Care, Susie Chant, who also took the stage to recognize the dedication of those who care for our seniors and their contributions in supporting the province’s healthcare system.
With the help of award sponsors, Minister Osborne presented awards to the 2024 recipients:
BC Care Provider of the Year
Home Health – Dina Alvarado, Caregiver, Hero Home Health
Assisted Living – Lisa Bysterveld, Licensed Practical Nurse, Elim Village
Long Term Care – Avril McLeod, Food Services Supervisor, Luther Court Society

Workplace of the Year – Sienna Senior Living
Ed Helfrich Long Service Excellence Award – Maureen McIntosh, President, the Care Group
The evening concluded with a standing ovation from the crowd, with closing remarks from BCCPA CEO, Terry Lake. He congratulated the award winners and thanked Premier Eby, Minister Osborne, our sponsors, board members, and all those dedicated to delivering the best quality care for seniors in B.C.
The event was followed by both Seniors Care Providers Day and Delegate Day, where winners joined us at the BC Legislature to meet with the BC NDP and BC Conservative caucuses, using our collective voice to discuss critical issues facing the sector together.
Thank you to our 11th Annual BC Care Award sponsors for their generous support in making this event possible.
