BC Care Providers Association is proud to present the 2024 BC Care Provider of the Year Award | Home Health to Dina Alvarado of Hero Home Care.
Dina began her caregiving career at Sunrise Lynn Valley, spending over a decade building strong connections with residents and colleagues. After a brief hiatus, she returned to caregiving, joining Hero Home Care three years ago. Dina’s compassion and expertise have made her an invaluable team member, consistently going beyond basic care to create meaningful moments for her clients.
“Dina isn’t just a caregiver; she’s part of our family,” says a family member of a client. “Our household includes a cat that needs extra care, and Dina didn’t hesitate—she took on both the caregiving and pet care, making our loved one feel completely supported. Her ability to bond with each member of our family, human and otherwise, shows her unique level of commitment.”
Her influence extends beyond caregiving, as she inspired her daughter, Bethany, to join Hero Home Care, continuing the legacy of compassionate service. Together, they bring warmth and continuity to the agency, enriching the lives of clients and their families.
“[My mother] was inspired to become a Care Aid after her grandmother became ill with cancer and she had no knowledge whatsoever to take care of someone who was ill, so she decided to go school to become a caregiver,” says Dina’s daughter.
“Always with a kind attitude and willing to help and because of that, she inspired me to do what she does because she always gives her best to others and respects every individual. My mother is a hard-working lady and will always continue to inspire me to continue what she does.”
Dina’s dedication to caregiving and her commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on clients and their families, inspiring generations of caregivers to come.
