Announcing BCCPA’s New Activity Assistant Training Program!

BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) is pleased to announce an exciting expansion to our suite of vocational training program offerings with the new, fully-funded Activity Assistant Training Program. Training for our first pilot cohort begins on September 25, 2024.

Offering new opportunities for eligible health care workers to advance their careers in seniors’ care, this 15-week Board-certified Certificate program is being delivered in partnership with North Island College through their Activity Assistant Certificate program and includes one week of dedicated occupational health and safety training provided by our partners at SafeCare BC.

BCCPA received $170,188 for the program delivery through the Community Workforce Response Grant program. The funding, provided by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia, will cover program costs for 24 students and offers additional training supports to help eliminate barriers.

Participants will enhance their skills and health care careers while addressing workforce shortages in B.C.’s seniors care sector in select communities across the Vancouver Island, Interior, Northern, and Lower Mainland regions.
