COVID-19 public-health emergency and related orders lifted

Today, Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, announced the end to the public-health emergency implemented at the start of COVID-19, rescinding all related orders and marking the end of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate in healthcare settings.

The Ministry also announced that that healthcare workers will be required to report their immunization status and operators of publicly funded beds required to take inventory of all vaccinations of their employees. The reporting of COVID-19, influenza and other critical communicable diseases aims to help medical health officers manage outbreaks.

In addition, there are no longer vaccine mandates for employment in the health care system. Employees who were terminated because of they did not comply to previous orders can apply for vacancies as they occur, if they are qualified.
