Burnaby, BC (April 5, 2023) — Today, Dr. Henry, B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, announced changes to the Provincial Health Officer’s Orders, relating to long-term care and assisted living. These changes will bring an end to the following-requirements:
- Mandatory rapid testing for visitors
- Mandatory vaccination requirement for visitors
- Universal masking for visitors
- Restrictions on gatherings, events or activities
- Active screening of visitors
Changes will come into affect immediately, and existing vaccination requirements for staff will remain in place.
Terry Lake, the CEO of BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) and EngAge BC issued the following statement in response to this news.
“As we adjust to a new phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, providers will be working closely with families to ensure that the transition to the new visitation guidelines goes smoothly. The patience of families is appreciated. As always, we remind visitors to stay home if they are feeling sick.”
