HCA Training Program advances with more funding for new cohorts

BC Care Providers Association and EngAge BC are pleased to report that more opportunities have been approved for HCA Training Program, we have received funding for three additional cohorts that will take place in Kelowna, Nanaimo and Vernon, where we will enroll 16 students in each cohort. Recruitment for the three new cohorts have commenced and courses will begin in February of 2022.

The HCA Training Program has been remarkably successful in providing vocational training and guidance from health professionals for individuals interested in careers as health care aides. The program offers a curriculum where students will develop the knowledge and skills required to become front-line caregivers in British Columbia. In partnership with the Community Workforce Response Grant (CWRG), BCCPA will cover the entire cost of tuition for participants, as well as provide additional training supports.

We are grateful for the support from our government partners. BCCPA’s HCA Training Program partnership is made possible by the Community Workforce Response Grant (CWRG), Discovery Community College, Stenberg College, and SafeCare BC. With every class that graduates we can address the labour shortage, and strengthen seniors care in B.C.
