SafeCare BC welcomes Saleema Dhalla as new CEO

Following an extensive recruitment process that resulted in over 60 applications from across the country, the Board of Directors for SafeCare BC has just announced that Saleema Dhalla has been chosen to lead the organization as the new CEO.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Saleema during her time as the interim CEO since last June,” says BCCPA and EngAge BC CEO Terry Lake. “SafeCare BC is an important stakeholder partner in our sector, and their contributions have been no more evident than over the last year and a half during the pandemic. With her history with the organization, thoughtfulness and kind disposition, Saleema is the leader SafeCare BC needs as the organization grows and takes on new challenges.”

Dhalla first joined SafeCare BC in 2017 as the director of workplace health and safety programs. She also served as the acting CEO between 2016 and 2017, after which she took on a role as the senior director of strategic engagement and development.

“My vision for SafeCare BC closely matches my own personal values, which is why I chose this work in the first place,” says Dhalla. “Seeing workplaces free from injury is my goal. Focusing these efforts in the care sector deepens my passion for this work. I truly believe that those working in healthcare deserve this support, and that’s why I find the work of SafeCare BC so meaningful and inspiring.”

All of us at BC Care Providers Association and EngAge BC wish Saleema success in her new role.
