BC Care Providers Association was invited by the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights (JUST) to speak on the subject of elder abuse and ways that Canada’s government can reduce the mistreatment of our seniors in society. In his Tuesday morning remarks, BCCPA/EngAge BC CEO Terry Lake focused on the need to ensure accountability in the workplace by addressing staff shortages, improving training, and acting on a proposal to move the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker Registry under the mandate of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
The all-party committee questioned several panelists including Lake, who spoke during the final hour of the proceedings. Click here for more information and a video archive link, or click here to see our live Twitter thread on his remarks.
