ESP April 2021 Featured Image

Spring is here and with it brings new energy to accomplish important work to optimize our fullest potential. The BCCPA Energy Team believes that some of this potential can be resonated through Energy Efficiency improvements. We want your care home to do the same amount of heating, cooling, ventilating, and lighting work this year for a fraction of the price!

See our webpage here for important energy information and methods to reduce costs.

Energy Awareness Moment – Carbon Taxes Going Up in BC

The BC Government has announced an increased tax on Carbon Emissions effective April 1st, 2021.  The increase went from $40 per tonne to $45 per tonne of CO2e, which is equivalent to a 12.5% increase. The next FortisBC rate adjustment will be in effect as of June 1, 2021 and we can anticipate for these  increases to be reflected on FortisBC statements this July.  Take a look at the table below to see how the increase will affect our BC Care Members.

Energy Savings Program Table- April 2021

Energy costs are anticipated to increase by an average of roughly 3% monthly, this implies that the implementation of Energy Efficiency can net an additional 3% of cost avoidance, this data illustrates how energy efficient choices can be cost-effective.
