As we reflect upon a year that few of us could have imagined, we are more grateful than ever for all who have worked tirelessly to bring comfort and safety to our country’s elderly living in a care residence, in independent living or living at home. We must thank everyone in our member organizations — including long-term care, assisted living, independent living and home health — for their commitment and compassion during these unprecedented times.
We are also thankful for our amazing collaborators in the effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including those working at our health authorities, in public health, the Ministry of Health and the health minister himself. We are grateful to the opposition party representatives too, who committed themselves to the lauded “Team BC” approach that helped to bend the curve in our province. Our thanks as well go out to our many other sector partners and the Office of the Seniors’ Advocate who have mounted their own defenses against COVID-19.
BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) and EngAge BC would like to express our thanks to the residents and family caregivers whose sacrifice throughout the COVID-19 pandemic must be acknowledged. Our association is committed to finding more ways for all of you to have the best visit possible.
As Dr. Bonnie Henry advises us all, during this Thanksgiving long weekend, let’s make our celebrations large in gratitude, but small in size.
From all of us at BCCPA and EngAge BC, we wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
