BCCPA/EngAge BC release Pandemic “2nd Wave” Recommendations

An anticipated second, possibly larger wave of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus may occur as early as the fall of 2020. While British Columbia is considered to have set itself apart from other jurisdictions in the effectiveness of its response to the spread of COVID-19, there are lessons we must take from our experiences to date in order to develop an even stronger defense against the next stages of the pandemic.

BC Care Providers Association and EngAge BC have posted 17 draft recommendations, which will be further vetted by care providers through a comprehensive engagement by Howegroup over the coming weeks. The recommendations represent the continuing effort to provide leadership in the fight against the growing threat of the coronavirus in B.C.

“When it comes to keeping a step ahead of COVID-19, there are no simple solutions other than to analyze our experience so far, and put the best preventative measures into practice as soon as possible,” says Mike Klassen, Acting CEO of BC Care Providers Association and EngAge BC. “These 17 draft recommendations posted today will be vetted and discussed by our sector for the next several weeks through a dialogue led by Howegroup. We encourage everyone to give their input, and evaluate the original list or provide their own new suggestions.

“When it comes to stopping COVID, any recommendation is welcome at this stage.”
