Care to Chat returns with a special COVID-19 virtual edition

In the midst of a global pandemic, virtual events are the new normal. Today, BC Care Providers Association released a “Care to Chat: Special COVID-19 Virtual Edition” — an hourlong episode that highlights the efforts of several organizations that are serving seniors and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Year after year, the Care to Chat speaker series tackles provocative issues in the seniors’ living sector by bringing thought leaders to engage in dialogue at a public forum,” says BCCPA CEO Daniel Fontaine. “While we plan to return to our bustling gatherings at the Terminal City Club in the future, this is a unique opportunity for us to engage our members, particularly those outside Metro Vancouver.”

The special edition, hosted by Daniel Fontaine, features the following guests:

  • Single site directive | Provincial Reference Group: Karen Baillie, CEO, Menno Place
  • Frontline worker experience during the pandemic: Lisa Mackenzie, Health Care Assistant, Sidney All Care Canada
  • Cross Canada perspective: Lisa Levin, CEO, AdvantAge Ontario
  • Community involvement: Kim Ironmonger, Director of Business Relations & Special Projects, Northcrest Care Centre
  • Operation Protect: Jennifer Lyle, CEO, SafeCare BC
  • Operation Canucks: Sarah Lumsden, Manager, Employee and Labour Relations/Legal Counsel, Canucks Sports & Entertainment
  • Forthcoming BCCPA advocacy and initiatives from a “special guest”

“COVID-19 has presented extraordinary challenges for our sector, but in response, organizations and individuals have risen to the challenge to protect the most vulnerable among us,” Fontaine says. “We thank our guests for sharing their challenges, ideas, and solutions with us—we hope it encourages and inspires our viewers.”
