The Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, sends personal correspondence to BCCPA
In a letter addressed to BC Care Providers Association, the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia Janet Austin paid tribute to the province’s seniors’ care providers for their ongoing efforts and dedication to managing the spread of COVID-19 and keeping older adults safe.
“I am humbled by your selfless work and inspired by your unflagging example of generosity and compassion,” the lieutenant governor says.
She reminds us that while care providers are delivering regular services to their residents and clients, they are also providing support to families and ensuring seniors stay connected to their loved ones during the pandemic.
The lieutenant governor calls seniors’ care a “noble profession” and says she is deeply moved by the compassion care providers demonstrate to the most vulnerable among us.
“You connect us to our common humanity and inspire to be of service to those who need our help. You set an example to which all British Columbians can aspire.
“As a society, we now know better how to value the unheralded work of care providers — you who go quietly about your daily tasks without fanfare or acknowledgment. We will always be grateful for your willingness to put yourself in harm’s way to keep us safe and provide care and comfort to those in need,” the lieutenant governor says.
BCCPA thanks the Lieutenant Governor for her powerful words of appreciation and support, which will undoubtedly bolster the spirits of care providers across the province who are going above and beyond to protect and comfort seniors in care.
