BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) is pleased to welcome one of the province’s largest providers of long-term care and assisted living services, Baptist Housing, as new members of our organization.
Baptist Housing has a rich history in British Columbia since 1964. Their roots stem from the first community built in Vancouver’s Killarney neighbourhood at Clarendon Court. The organization has since gone on to expand to 21 communities located in Vancouver, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford, Victoria, Kelowna, White Rock, West Vancouver, Salmon Arm and Armstrong.
“BCCPA is delighted to have Baptist Housing as new members of our organization,” says CEO Daniel Fontaine. “I’m in my eighth year leading our organization, and while we have worked alongside Baptist Housing on so many occasions during that time, I’m pleased that we can officially call this upstanding organization a BCCPA member.”
Marc Kinna, Chief Operating Officer at Baptist Housing, acknowledges becoming a BCCPA member is a good fit for their community-focused organization.
“We have long admired BCCPA’s advocacy and solutions-oriented approach to improving the quality of care and the quality of life for residents,” says Kinna. “We look forward to establishing a strong relationship with them and supporting their work around the province.”
Throughout these challenging days for all who care for seniors in British Columbia, BC Care Providers Association has been working to support its members on many levels. Over the last several weeks BCCPA and EngAge BC has seen a surge of new memberships – including service providers, independent living and commercial applications.
When good news seems comparatively difficult to come by, we must appreciate when organizations such as Baptist Housing can garner a positive media story like this one in the Globe and Mail. The report discusses how two of their sites responded upon learning of a positive case of COVID-19 was confirmed. Baptist Housing’s outbreak protocol quickly kicked in, and by working with health authorities they successfully isolated any spread of the coronavirus.
BCCPA looks forward to supporting Baptist Housing, in addition to the many new members who have joined in recent months, to make sure B.C. seniors get the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
