Popular radio stations in British Columbia have joined the effort to ensure health care workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic have an adequate supply of personal protective equipment to protect themselves and provide safe, quality care.
Six stations — 980 CKNW, 94.5 Virgin Radio, 103.5 QMFM, TSN 1040, 93.7 JRFM, and 102.7 THE PEAK — are running 30-second spots promoting SafeCare BC’s Operation Protect initiative, which appeals to individuals and businesses to donate personal protective equipment for health care workers.
The community response to the initiative has been overwhelming, with 180 donors contributing 152,000 items of equipment, including masks, gloves, gowns, eye protection, and hand sanitizer.
SafeCare BC and BC Care Providers Association thank BigSteelBox, Tahoe Industries, City of Vancouver, City of Surrey, King of Floors, 980 CKNW, 94.5 Virgin Radio, 103.5 QMFM, TSN 1040, Guildford Town Centre, Global Carpets and Hardwood, and U-Haul (Port Moody) for supporting Operation Protect.
