During these challenging times we are seeing several sectors of our economy deeply affected by the COVID-19 coronavirus. None have been impacted more than our restaurant, hotel and hospitality sector. This multi-billion dollar B.C. industry has been hit by a shock like never before, and the people who we have depended upon to be our hosts during restaurant meals, winery visits or local getaways are suddenly facing the prospect of little or no employment.
British Columbians must band together to support each other as we try to get through the effects of this pandemic. One area of relief is the opportunities that the seniors care sector provides. We know there are hundreds of openings for food preparation and food service, as well as cleaning and maintenance positions throughout the seniors care sector. B.C.’s Labour Market Outlook for years has shown the seniors care sector as having the highest job growth for the coming decade.
Now there is an opportunity for ALL seniors care provider organizations to promote themselves. BC Care Providers Association has partnered with go2HR – B.C.’s leading online recruitment resource for the hospitality sector – to connect job seekers with the seniors care sector. As a first step, BCCPA members must register @go2HR and post your available positions.
The registration process is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Simply go to https://www.go2hr.ca/register and set up an account for your company. From there, you are able to post a job description for your company’s opportunity.
With so much growth happening, it is well-understood that the aged care and retirement sector is not only booming, but jobs are stable and pay well with good benefits. In addition to hospitality workers, there is also enormous demand for recreational therapists, and those trained in physiotherapy and massage therapy too.
We must support those who’ve been impacted by the rapid arrival of the coronavirus. We are calling upon all long-term care, assisted living and independent living members of BCCPA and EngAge BC to get their organizations registered, and the positions posted as soon as possible. For more information, see our recent post on the go2HR opportunity.
Our thanks to go2HR for their incredible support of both the seniors care sector and of the community of restaurant and hospitality workers in B.C!
Please note that your postings, including jobs and events, will only be published after your company profile is approved by go2HR.
