Creative approaches to maintain social connections

In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, seniors’ care providers across British Columbia are taking extraordinary measures to keep their residents and staff safe.

In response to the new restrictions on visitation in long-term care and assisted living, sites such as Northcrest Care Centre are providing opportunities for seniors to connect with their families through FaceTime, Skype, and social media. The care home is also inviting family members to send letters, emails, and gifts to their loved ones.

It’s also important for us to think of seniors isolated in their own homes, who might go days, even weeks without seeing or speaking to someone. To help a senior who may be feeling socially isolated in your neighbourhood due to COVID-19, fill out the card below and slip it under their door. It will be most appreciated.
