BCCPA-WorkBC partnership creates new opportunities for employers and job seekers

BC Care Providers Association and WorkBC recently partnered to organize a job fair and employer “Meet and Greet” on February 12th at the North Vancouver WorkBC Centre.

10 employers from long-term care, home health and retirement living had the opportunity to network with WorkBC career specialists, and learn about the many services WorkBC offers to employers, such as job matching, unpaid work experiences, community attachments, and wage subsidies.

The career fair, open to clients of the North Vancouver WorkBC Centre and the general public, aimed to attract people interested in changing careers or entering/re-entering the labour force to rewarding careers in seniors’ care. Employers present were recruiting for positions in companionship, housekeeping, laundry, food services, as well as skilled nursing positions, such as care aides and nurses. 50 British Columbians, including individuals with multiple barriers to employment, attended the job fair.

“We were very pleased to partner with WorkBC North Vancouver to deliver an event for people who want to pursue careers in seniors’ care,” says Lara Croll, BCCPA’s Senior HHR Analyst. “We believe this is the start of a great partnership with the career specialists at WorkBC, as we seek to match these individuals with sustainable jobs in the sector.”

BCCPA would like to thank the following employers for participating in the job fair:
