We are seeking a motivated Director of Care to join our team in beautiful Sidney by the Sea located at the south end of Vancouver Island. Sidney All Care Residence is a family-owned, private pay long-term care residence. The Director of Care is responsible for coordinating and supervising the great care of our 88 residents and our 85 care staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uphold and promote the Vision, Mission and Values as an example to our community;
    • Communicates clearly and effectively with staff, residents, families and care professionals;
    • Lead the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of care related goals, objectives and outcomes;
    • Conduct Care Assessment and suitability on new admissions and assist with admission process;
    • Review current Care Levels and care plans;
    • Develop, oversee and enforce Medication Safety Program to ensure the safe and appropriate https://bccare.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/medcare-img22.jpgistration of medication;
    • Ensure all levels of resident care and services meet or exceeds licensing requirements and regulations;
    • Ensure compliance, interpretation, review and revisions of policies and procedures pertaining to all aspects of resident care;
    • Ability to conduct a complete investigation and deliver a conclusion and report.
    • Facilitate and participate in the quality review process by Island Health;
    • Participate in development and maintain fiscal budget;
    • Provide professional leadership, mentorship and support to the care team;
    • Ensure appropriate staffing level at all times;
    • Ensure and monitor staff knowledge and compliance with regulations and policies;
    • Evaluate the performance of all care staff and conduct their performance reviews;
    • Ensure that disciplinary action is conducted fairly and appropriately up to and including terminations, if necessary;
    • Assist with recruiting, interviews and reference checks and other duties related to hiring care staff;
    • Ability to provide constructive feedback to staff and the ability to have courageous conversations.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with BCCNP, a bachelor’s degree in nursing and progressive nursing experience and education;
    • Minimum of three years working experience in management/https://bccare.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/medcare-img22.jpgistration;
    • Minimum of three years in geriatrics or a combination of education and experience;
    • Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification;
    • Experience with Microsoft Office;
    • Experience with PointClickCare an asset;
    • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
