SEATS ARE LIMITED – ONE-TIME-ONLY OFFERING
Are you an internationally educated nurse? Are you interested in interim work as a health care assistant? We can help!
Through support of BC Care Providers Association, employers, BC Care Aide Registry, and funding from the Province of B.C., Douglas College is offering an alternate pathway to nursing for Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) in British Columbia. This pilot project has limited space and applicants must be able to commit to all program components between October 2018 and March 2019 (one-time-only offering).
“In light of the current health human resource shortage in seniors care, reducing barriers to employment for IENs is an identified priority for the BCCPA,” says HHR Analyst Lara Croll. “We are very pleased to be working with Douglass College to bridge such highly qualified care workers to full-time job opportunities with local care providers.”
Douglas College will provide targeted preparation resources, job shadow opportunities and simulation lab preparation to improve the HCA NCAS outcome while you continue to pursue your nursing pathway. Once fully registered as an HCA, we will arrange job postings and interviews from employer partners all across British Columbia.
“Douglas College, via the Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology-funded Career Paths program, is excited to be able to collaborate with BC Care Providers Association on this HCA Pilot,” says Jennifer Kuenzig, Community & Contract Services Manager at Douglas College. “The Province is facing a shortage of Health Care Assistants and this Pilot is an opportunity to introduce newcomers to opportunities across communities in B.C.”
