SafeCare BC opens new satellite training centre at Parksville’s Arrowsmith Lodge

In order to increase access to education, SafeCare BC recently opened a new satellite training centre at Parksville’s Arrowsmith Lodge. The first satellite training centre opened earlier this year at Abbotsford’s Menno Place. According to SafeCare BC, these partnership agreements will expand the capacity for health and safety training.

“We’re very excited to partner with member sites across the province, so more training can be delivered locally,” says Saleema Dhalla, acting CEO, SafeCare BC. “Both Menno Place and Arrowsmith Lodge have shown great leadership in the development of these satellite training centres.”

How does it work?

SafeCare BC coordinates course materials, registration, certificates and facilitators (when an in-house facilitator is not available); provides funding for catering; and provides an agreed upon the number of free spots for the host site.

The satellite training site provides an in-house facilitator (if eligible); provides the venue; coordinates the set up of workshops; and arranges lunch for the participants.

What’s next?

SafeCare BC is looking to partner with other organizations around the province to establish more satellite training centres. For questions, please contact Brooke Astles at brooke@safecarebc.ca.
