Cannabis in Care: ‘Weed’ Like to Know
On October 2nd, BCCPA will host a Care to Chat titled Cannabis in Care: ‘Weed’ Like to Know which will look into the impact of cannabis legalization on seniors and workers in the continuing care sector.
A dynamic panel, which includes cannabis advocates, care providers, law professionals and workplace safety personnel, will examine budding issues regarding how employers can mitigate new legal, safety or cultural risks that crop up after legalization, while considering things like seniors’ right to access cannabis for medical reasons or recreation. Former Health Minister of B.C. Terry Lake will moderate the event.

Immigration Pathways for International Health Care Workers
This interactive workshop will help you understand how to use federal and provincial immigration programs to hire direct care and allied health care professionals from abroad to fill positions in BC.
Representatives from the federal department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and from the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) will present program requirements for temporary work permits and permanent residence.
Workshop participants will learn about the application process for these programs and what resources and supports there are for employers looking to navigate both federal and provincial immigration programs.

Heart & Hands Conference
The Hearts & Hands Conference is a day of celebration and education for health care assistants, resident care assistants, community health workers and home care workers. The third-annual Hearts & Hands Conference will take place on October 3rd in Victoria and October 17th in Penticton.
Sara Wegwitz, a registered nurse with a specialization in mental fitness, resiliency training and performance coaching, will deliver the opening keynote. Participants can attend breakout sessions, visit exhibitor booths and even win door prizes. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
