Survey asks health workers why they chose their career

BCCPA will use survey results to help promote care provider careers

July 31, 2018 (Burnaby, B.C.) – In order to address the critical labour shortage in B.C.’s seniors care sector, BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) is surveying health care workers to learn why they chose seniors care as their career path.

Through an online survey, BCCPA is seeking feedback from care aides, community support workers, LPNs, RNs and other health care workers on what attracted them to seek careers in caregiving. The results will be used to develop a public awareness campaign about career opportunities in seniors care.

Spread the word—Print and display the poster in a common area at your workplace.

In BCCPA’s recently released Situation Critical report, public awareness building focused on rewarding career opportunities in seniors care was identified as a key strategy to increase the supply of workers. Results from the survey will help strengthen the Association’s efforts to get more people employed in the sector, improve the delivery of care, and reduce worker burnout.

“Sharing your experience as a health care worker will help inform the advocacy needed to improve public perception and attract more workers to these vital occupations. The feedback is crucial to helping qualified workers find rewarding jobs in one of the fastest growing sectors in B.C.,” says BCCPA CEO Daniel Fontaine.
