On June 25th BC Care Providers Association released its Situation Critical report which outlines priority actions to address the lack of workers providing frontline seniors care in the province.

Media response to the report has been far reaching, with news outlets across B.C. reporting on staffing shortages in the continuing care sector. The report’s release also triggered record web traffic on BCCPA’s website with nearly 2,500 page views in 24 hours.

“The strong community response to the report speaks to the urgency of the situation,” says BCCPA CEO Daniel Fontaine. “Once again the spotlight is on the issue of labour shortages in the sector, but now it’s time to act. The recommendations outlined in the report must be immediately addressed to prevent this crisis from continuing to exacerbate—the well being of B.C. seniors is at stake.”
